regarding upcut/downcut/compression router bits. something to consider is directional pull from the router bits. For instance, a downcut spiral bit in a router table pushes the work piece away from the table surface. An overhead (pin) router with an upcut spiral can suck the work piece out of the jig/pattern. I hope that makes sense.
